VILLA FTELESIA - KORNOS

Inspired by the lush green forest of Kornos, Villa Ftelesia embraces hilltop living. Wrapped in stone, stucco and glass, the residence is afforded panoramic views of the Larnaka bay. The sloped plot has an area of 1,649 m2 and the original dwelling, left unfinished in the early 2000s, had a small footprint of 220m2. MOIRE’s challenge was to expunge all traces of the original building and create a contemporary house with expanded internal areas, subterranean rooms and various internal and external entertaining areas.

Inside, the team reconfigured the floor plan to provide opportunities for indoor-outdoor living and to create larger rooms. Where possible, solid walls were replaced with full-height glazing, offering a direct connection to outdoor terraces. All subterranean areas are clad in rock face DIAS to sympathetically blend with the landscape, when the villa is seen from afar. Contemporary but earthy materials were used throughout the dwelling, contributing to an architectural composition that is true to the client’s brief, to create a home that is modern, comfortable, and private.

​On the ground level, open living spaces with sliding doors lead to the terraces, the pool and the garden. The primary suite, which takes centre stage within the house was created by combining 3 smaller rooms and resembles a hotel suite with luxury His and Hers bespoke wardrobes designed by MOIRE, large double walk-in shower and a beautiful free-standing bath which was strategically placed to provide panoramic views of the stunning landscape

 

The attic creates space for a home office and another bedroom, overlooking the pool and the forest, whilst additional office space and home gym were created with the introduction of subterranean rooms by following the natural terrain of the plot, creating a seamless flow to the layout.
